Branding a museum event programme that celebrates local heritage.

Approach

People Make Alnwick is a vibrant five-year programme by Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery, dedicated to celebrating the rural heritage, culture, and traditions of the district. Through a wide variety of events and activities, the project gathers, interprets, and shares local stories, placing heritage at the heart of this diverse Northumberland community. Its goal is to reconnect with locals and highlight the museum as a space that belongs to them.

Stretching from the North Sea coast to the Cheviot Hills, the brand embodies the region’s rich cultural landscape. At the brand’s core are a series of illustrated tiles that represent the area’s geography and heritage. These tiles come together to form a flexible ‘tapestry’, adapting to different compositions enabling the creation of engaging, customised materials for various needs and applications. The typography, especially in the logo, conveys personality and a sense of storytelling, while the brand palette is warm, energetic and welcoming.
