Rhubarb Design House joins forces with The Art House and local artists to help bring Wakefield together through art and creativity during the festive season!
When we heard of The Art House’s plan to distribute gift boxes to children in Wakefield, we leapt at the chance to be involved. The gift boxes were to be packed full of craft materials and activity cards to get the creative juices flowing across the city.
Our idea was to produce an illustrated paper toy which could be coloured in and built into a 3D model, providing an exciting challenge and an impressive end result. After experimenting with different ideas, we soon settled on ‘Tinsel the Terrier’ – a Yorkshire terrier with bags full of character and festive antlers to boot.
An impressive one thousand gift boxes were created in total, with work and activities from fellow Art House residents; John Mayson, Helen Thomas, Tony Wade, Ranya Abulateef, Jake Mullins, Ali Appleby and Amelia Baron, all featuring inside. You can watch a short film about the project here: ‘A Gift from The Art House’.
